2012 Juno Awards Coming To Ottawa!

For the second time in JUNO history, the much-anticipated Canadian music event will be taking place in Ottawa. The last time the JUNOS were held in the capital was in 2003 when they were one of the most watched JUNO awards broadcast ever on CTV.  With such a successful outcome in the past, it looks like this year will be one to remember!

The award ceremony will be on April 1st 2012 at Scotiabank Place. JUNO week will begin on March 26th and will feature many great events leading up to the main ceremony:

JUNO cup (Friday March 30th 2012):

Canadian celebrities play a hockey game in support of MusiCounts, (Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS). Former NHL stars compete with Canadian artists and celebrities for bragging rights on the ice.

JUNO Fan Fare (Saturday March 31st 2012):

Fans get the chance to meet their favourite Canadian artists and obtain autographs and photos with them.

JUNOFEST (Friday March 30th and Saturday March 31st 2012):

Canadian music hits the streets of Ottawa! Over 100 local, regional and national acts (including over 30 JUNO Award Nominees) will perform at up to 15 venues. Nightly line-ups will feature three or four acts per venue. (Venues are yet to be announced).

JUNO Songwriter’s circle (Sunday April 1st 2012):

Bringing together some of Canada’s most talented singer-songwriters today to share songs and stories on stage.

With all these fun activities and excitement, looks like we’ve got plenty to look forward to!

This year’s full list of nominees have not been posted yet but will be soon! So far it’s been revealed that the following four acts will perform at this year’s JUNOS:

City and Colour, Feist, Deadmau5 and Blue Rodeo. More acts will be announced soon so stay tuned!
