Together since 2001, the indie-rock band released their first album funeral in late 2004. To their surprise, the album became Merge Record’s biggest selling record of all time. In the summer of 2005, they toured in festivals such as Coachella, Reading & Leeds, Lollapalooza and Electric Picnik where they gained even more fans. With their album Suburbs, they won the Album of the Year award at the 2011 Grammy Awards. The band is known for their unforgettable live shows and the band member’s ability to play a large variety of instruments. During concerts Régine Chassagne and the other members switch from instrument to instrument: they can go from drums to accordion to keyboard.
