Having reached global stardom after the release of her smash hit Call Me Maybe, Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen has been riding a steady wave of success ever since. Her start in music however, runs much further back.  Her dad was into music and played intruments with Carly  and her siblings when they were young. She also took part in musicals during high school. In 2007 Carly auditioned for the 5th season of Canadian Idol where she placed third.  Her first album ‘’Tug of War’’, was released the year after. In early 2012 she released an EP called “Curiosity”.

Although she names artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, La Roux and Robyn as inspirations, her songs have an infectious pop sound that is all her own.  In February 2012, Justin Bieber announced that Carly signed a record deal with Scooter Braun’s label, School Boy Records (Justin Bieber, Curtis Jackson, Asher Roth) and Interscope (Blink-182, Lady Gaga, Eminem, U2, LMFAO). She is also signed with 604 Records in Canada. With 16 nominations in 2 years, reaching the top of the charts in numerous countries and a new album coming out in September, this is just the beginning for our Canadian pop star!
