Hey everyone! It’s hard to believe how fast 2010 went by! Not only that, but it’s also the start of a brand new decade! It’s exciting to think of all the wonderful things coming this year entertainment-wise. Both Marianas Trench and Down With Webster will be releasing new albums this year (we can hardly wait!) and Avril Lavigne is back, with a new music video out soon! There’s also Canadian music week and the Canada International film festival coming up in March and tons more events down the road.

I’d just like to thank you all for being so supportive and encouraging. We’re very proud of all the awesome Canadians out there, some of which have achieved great success over the years but also the ones who are just getting started J . Canadas Talent began from a small obsession with all things Canadian. It’s clear that lots of people share this passion and this pride when you look at how supportive everyone is, showing love for your favourite artists. Sure Canada is known for maple syrup, snowy mountain tops and even polar bears but there are plenty of people here putting us on the map, whether they’re playing music, acting in movies or TV, winning gold medals in the Olympics or creating beautiful artwork. The point I’m trying to make here is that Canadians work hard and play hard.

If you’re looking for inspiration, just take a look at Marianas Trench, back in their early days they played some shows where only 3 or 4 people showed up.

The guys shared a story with us, from back in the day:
“The first couple of times you (tour) across the country, there’s like, 4 people at every show and you have to hope that you play well, and that each of them, you know, tells someone and the next time there’s 8 people and it’s a slow going getting to where we’re at now but like, you know, that was a long, (laughs) that was a looong road.” – Josh Ramsay (lead singer) “But it’s a good story”, adds drummer, Ian Casselman with a smile. “It was the worst show, but I think you can look back on it and just.. laugh.”

Just imagine all the work and dedication they put in to get to where they are now!

Or take a look at Stereos, back in their earlier days. The guys once had an experience where they drove for hours on end to a show where the only people who showed up were the other bands performing that night!

(Here’s a super old pic we found, featuring SOME members from Stereos. Recognize anyone? )

With any success comes disappointment but when you have a dream or goal in mind and take a chance, anything is possible. Here’s a third story: years ago, when Faber Drive was entering their song in a radio contest, Faber drove out to the station to drop off the song. When he arrived, he almost drove right back home again. He ended up dropping off the song after all and their song ended up winning. That chance he took helped them get to where they are now.

The moral of these stories is to never underestimate yourself and to always remember that with each success story comes hours of hard-work, lots of passion and of course fun along the way!

So good luck to you all, lets make this year an amazing one! Feel free to message us any time on Twitter @canadastalent on Youtube and Facebook or you can even leave us a comment right here on the blog! J We’re all in this together, promoting and spreading the love for all these awesome Canadian artists that bring us together as fans, concert-goers and music junkies! We are looking for people who would like to help out with the website, finding news and other events. If you’re into Twitter and other sites like those and enjoy writing and entertainment, send us an email to for more details.

We’re also working on a special video right now that should be up this week so stay tuned for that! There’s also some more interviews being posted soon
