Juno Live Music Labs Feat. Carly Rae Jepsen, Down With Webster and More!


“Besides a little creativity and inspiration, there’s a science behind writing a hit song. Join Canadian musicians in four interactive, one-hour workshops as they explore the dynamic relationship between science and music in celebration of the 2012 JUNO Awards. The Live Music Labs will be hosted by MuchMusic’s Lauren Toyota and Liz Trinnear.”

Come check out this fun, interesting event on Saturday March 24th  and Sunday  March 25th at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto! It is a part of the JUNO week festivities and entry is free with admission.

Here is the schedule and some info about the different workshops:

Lyrical Lovin’ with Carly Rae Jepsen and JRDN Saturday, March 24 at 12:00pm Singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen and R&B recording artist JRDN are naturals at singing songs from the heart. Alongside their guitarists, Carly Rae and JRDN will discuss how they blend confessional lyrics with the sweet sounds of a guitar to create a catchy hit song.


Power of Words with Chantal Kreviazuk (and just added: Raine Maida!)

In addition to being a talented musician in her own right, Chantal Kreviazukhas written songs with various artists like Kelly Clarkson, Drake, Gwen Stefani and Carrie Underwood. This Canadian singer-songwriting star will share her process of writing songs and creating beautiful melodies on the piano.


The Offishall Word with Kardinal Offishall

Sunday, March 25 at 12:00pm

Toronto-born, Canadian “hip hop ambassador” Kardinal Offishall is known for his distinctive high-energy blend of soul, reggae, and dancehall style. Join this JUNO winner as he shares his musical journey, from his start in rap at the age of 8 to collaborating with artists like Akon, Busta Rhymes, Estelle, Timbaland and T-Pain.


Breaking it Down With Webster
Sunday, March 25 at 2:00pm

Join members of the highly energetic, JUNO-nominated band Down with Webster as they dissect one of their most popular songs. Inspired by different influences but united by their love of music, this 6-man hip-hop/rock band from Toronto will show how they mix all of their musical styles together to build a unique sound.


JUNO Children’s Concert at the Ontario Science Centre

The Ontario Science Centre is celebrating the 2012 JUNO Awards by hosting a children’s concert with JUNO-nominated artists The Bee’s Knees and The Monkey Bunch! Join them on a one-hour musical adventure as they sing about respect and appreciation for the planet. Their catchy, upbeat songs appeal to children of all ages and will be sure to get you moving, grooving, and singing along. Get ready for some fun!

March 25th at 11:00am and 1:00pm in the Imperial Oil Auditorium, Level 1
