Addicted, Crazy, Jet Lag, Generation…do these songs sound familiar? These outstanding singles came from a band that originated in Montreal, Quebec. They’re not too complicated, as their name isn’t Complex Scheme. Hopefully you’ve guessed it by now. Simple Plan. The members of this pop punk band include Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau, Jeff Stinco, Sebastien Lefebvre, and David Desrosiers. Simple Plan is signed to Atlantic Records.

Simple Plan released their first studio album in 2002 called No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls. Their album had sold 1 million copies in early 2003, and then went on to sell over 4 million copies worldwide. Simple Plan played more than 300 shows that year, including a sold out tour in Japan. In 2003, they played as a headliner on the Vans Warped Tour.

Their second album, Still Not Getting Any, was released in 2004. The name Still Not Getting Any was decided upon for a number of factors. Popular reasons listed are that the members of the band thought they weren’t getting any good reviews, and they were still not getting any respect. However, Comeau once described the name as “versatile.”

Their self titled album, Simple Plan, was released in 2008. This album included popular songs such as When I’m Gone, Love is a Lie, and Generation. “When I’m Gone” gave the band their best chart position in the UK at number 26. Some Japanese versions of songs were recorded for this CD. Simple Plan played in many festivals and in cities ranging from Calgary to Moscow.

Their latest album, Get Your Heart On, was released in June 2011. Songs from this album featured collaborations with Natasha Bedingfield, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, K’Naan, and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low. The lead single of this album is Jet Lag. The song was released in English and in French, featuring Natasha Bedingfield and Marie-Mai respectively.

The members of Simple Plan have helped charity and nonprofit groups such as the MTV Asia Aid benefit, MADD, RADD (Recording Artists, Actors, and Athletes against Drunk Driving), and the Make A Wish Foundation. They also created the Simple Plan Foundation, a foundation that focuses on teen problems ranging from poverty to suicide to drug addiction.

Why are they called Simple Plan? Band members have given various comical responses to this question, including that the band was a simple plan to avoid having to get a job at a local fast food joint. However, the name Simple Plan is most likely derived from the 1998 novel and film, A Simple Plan.

If you’re still not getting any, you should go pick up one of their albums and give them a little try. You’ll be addicted in no time!
