TIME festival Wide_MainStage

Embrace presents Time Festival, the time of your life held in Fort York, a peaceful oasis in downtown Toronto. The only reminder that you were in the 6ix would be the CN Tower poking above the tree line behind the main stage. The decorating committee alone deserves an A+. Not only were there ribbons, dream catchers, flowers and disco balls hanging from the trees but also giant butterflies in the sky providing shade for us festival goers (and boy did we need it, it was a hot Saturday afternoon). However that didn’t stop anyone from enjoying their day. On top of all this was a gathering of food trucks, which offered a vast variety of options from mac and cheese, to BBQ and all the way to some refreshing slushies. With the crowd sustained and comfortable, there was nothing to hold us back from enjoying some quality live performances.

Both the main stage and the Over Time stage featured act after act after act, all of them working the crowd beautifully. The beginning of the day started off with some more chill vibes with acts such as K.i.D (Kids in Despair) a duo that travelled all the way from Mississauga to capture the crowd with “I Wish I Was Your Cigarette” all the while still giving a shout out to mom. Another great act was CRi, a Montreal native who rocked the Over Time stage with refreshing DJ skills that attracted crowds of people to dance like nobody’s watching. As the day went on however, the crowd got rowdy. Acts like Joey Bada$$, Nyck Caution and Kirk Knight brought the hype as the sun went down, inspiring a multitude of mosh pits (which on multiple occasions Nyck jumped in on) followed by some good-old-fashioned crowd surfing. The crowd was hyped up giving way for Kehlani and Broods to crush it. All the acts featured deserve great praise as this year was a killer lineup and I can certainly say I’m excited for what they could have in store next year.
